Equine Services Coordinator
Job Description – Full-Time, Exempt
Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Equine Services Coordinator plays a pivotal role in the oversight of all aspects of equine care to maintain the health and well-being of program livestock, and ensures the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of all equine and outdoor facilities. This individual also fulfills the role of Program Facilitator during bereavement support groups and Equine Specialist during individual equine-assisted psychotherapy sessions. The position requires staying current with trends in the equine field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Scheduling
• Create schedules for equine care, sessions, chores, and facility coverage.
2. Equine Care & Welfare
• Ensure all horses and livestock receive exceptional care in accordance with Animal Welfare Code
of Ethics, and TR standards.
• Oversee feeding schedules, turnout, grooming, stall cleaning, and general husbandry.
• Manage feed orders including hay and supplements including pick-up when necessary.
• Implement and update feeding protocols, supplement programs, and supply inventory.
• Serve as secondary contact (ED is primary contact) for veterinarian, farrier, and equine dentist, coordinate appointments.
• Respond to emergencies; administer first aid and conduct wound care.
• Maintain all horse charts, files, and health records.
• Provide enrichment, rotation, gratitude, and herd well-being oversight.
• Create and document procedures for all care-related processes.
• Provide training to all volunteers interacting with equine, emphasizing safety and handling excellence.
3. Facility Maintenance & Safety
• Maintain a clean, safe, and presentable stable area and outdoor therapeutic spaces.
• Oversee repairs and report facility needs, including fences, pastures, stalls, play areas, and barn structures.
• Perform or assist with minor repairs as needed.
• Supervise volunteers and community service groups during facility maintenance projects.
• Ensure all facility standards meet Animal Welfare and TR guidelines.
4. Coordination, Administration & Reporting
• Provide monthly equine services reports and presentations as requested
Salary: $45K plus benefits
