The goal of this book is to provide ideas for how to work with schools and develop programs that could benefit their students. The manual is intended for Eagala mental health professionals, equine specialists, and school counselors. It provides methods to develop strategic partnerships and organize a school equine assisted learning program.
An 18-week curriculum is presented using the themes: Cowboy Words of Wisdom, Horse Power in Team Work, and Winning Strides to Resiliency. Activities focus on respect, responsibility, friendship, communication, problem solving, managing stress, and having a positive outlook.
Evaluation techniques, examples of forms and letters, handouts, and tips for a successful program are furnished.
Head ‘em up, Move ‘em out! differs from the previous Colts and Fillies, in that it is designed to be used sequentially, with outcomes based on previously addressed skills. Head ‘em up, Move ‘em out! is intended to be used collaboratively with a school to provide a semester-long program.
