Full-Time MH professional in Western Colorado
Harmony Acres Equestrian Center is hiring for a full-time Mental Health Professional. Our facility is a rapidly growing therapeutic center on the beautiful Western Slope of Colorado, that offers both Equine and Animal-Assisted Psychotherapy and Therapeutic Riding. Our Animal sanctuary is home to 15 large horses 10 minis/ponies and several other animals such as sheep, goats, alpacas, and bunnies.
We have wonderful facilities, including newly added offices, large indoor arena, small covered arena, outdoor arenas and round pens. Our team includes instructors, animal care specialists and handlers, administrators, office support, and volunteers, all who create a welcoming community and the highest level of expertise in Equine and Animal Assisted Therapy on the Western Slope. We follow the EAGALA model in pairing a mental health professional with a trained animal handler.

Our ideal candidate for this position:
-Must have an eligible Master’s degree, either licensed or working towards licensure
-Have great communication skills, the desire to work as part of a team, as well as independently motivated
-A proven record of excellence with completing paperwork requirements for billing purposes
-A strong background in animal psychology as it relates to therapy. Either experience in Equine and Animal-Assisted Therapy modalities, and/or a background such as 4-H, Agriculture science, Horse showing, etc.
-A passion for working in the field of Equine and Animal-Assisted Therapy
-Desire and/or experience working with children as young as 4 years old. This position will be primarily working with children and teenage clients.
-Certification, trainings, or willingness to be trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy or other Trauma Therapy modalities. We specialize in working with individuals who have experienced trauma, abuse, loss, grief, or family separation.
-The physical ability to be active and moving throughout the day, and work both indoors and outdoors in a variety of climate conditions
