Susan Byrne Children's Book - Heartache's Way: A True Story of Loss and Healing
Regular price$15.00 USD
Heartache's Way - A True Story of Loss and Healing by Susan Byrne, M.A., LMFT is a full-color children's book. It is narrated by a young horse, Sierra Cloud, daughter of Heartache. It is a story about the many losses Sierra Cloud faces and most significantly the death of her mother.
Children have been called "forgotten mourners." They often do not or can not express what they are feeling or experiencing in words, leaving adults to mistakenly believe they are not grieving. Loss is not always the result of a death. Loss of a friend, movement to a new school, illnesses, placement in foster care, divorce of a child's parents are just some of the many reasons children grieve.
Sierra Cloud teaches children about feelings, empathy, courage, self-acceptance and the importance of telling their stories. Her tale offers children hope and a path for healing.
This book is designed for use by therapists and caregivers who work with children, especially ages 5-12, who have experienced loss or who may benefit in preparing to face loss in their lives.
